Hi, I’m Bas 👋

I’m a technical project manager with a love for turning chaos into clarity and creating environments where people genuinely enjoy their work. I’m at my best when I’m helping teams shine - supporting people in their strengths while building clear, user-centered systems that look good, make sense, and are effortless to use, maintain, and evolve. I’m naturally curious and always scanning the horizon for what’s next, what can be improved, and where the road might bend.

That curiosity doesn’t switch off outside of work. My home is basically a personal hobby lab where I experiment with smart home setups, build scripts and tools, and chase the idea of a smart home that feels both intelligent and effortless. And when I’m not tinkering, you’ll usually find me unwinding by the water with a fishing rod, tending to my plants, or chopping them up to turn into a meal. 🧑‍🍳

What I’m Into

• Project management ideas/tooling - Especially “AI-Driven Project Management” where I try to make my work as data-driven, efficient, and predictable as possible.
• Smart home - Home Assistant automations, sensors, presence detection, lighting design, and the constant search for “Effortlessly Aware”.
• Plants - Indoor jungle, from seed to allotment to soil to table, propagation experiments with it the occasional smart sensor. 🤓
• Coding & Tooling - Little utilities, scripts, and experiments that help me automate or understand things better.
• Fishing - Mostly for the quiet, and the stories that come with it.
• Cooking - A lifelong passion and a daily creative outlet.

What I’m Working On Lately

I treat my hobbies and work as two sides of the same curiosity. At any given moment, I’m deep into something - lately that includes:

• Designing a cleaner architecture for Home Assistant and writing blueprints for it, for open-source use.
• Building server for homelabbing - Web hosting, file hosting, media servers, Local AI, and general tinkering environments.
• Creating projects and minimum viable product (MVP) using AI✨ Using tools like Lovable, Bolt, Claude-code to test their limits.

Why I Built This Website

I wanted one place to bring together the different parts of who I am and what I do.
The projects I run, the systems I build, the ideas I’m exploring, and the hobbies that help me slow down. Nothing here is perfect or finished - and that’s kind of the point.
